Overview

Rentkompass is a stateless tool. There are no user accounts, no login, no stored personal data. When you check a listing or use the calculator, the inputs are processed and the result is returned. Nothing is tied to you personally.

What data is processed

Listing checker and calculator

When you paste a listing URL or enter address details, those inputs are sent to our server, used to compute a rent estimate, and returned to your browser. We do not store these inputs with any personal identifier. The listing URL is passed to a third-party scraper API to extract public listing data. Calculator inputs (address, year built, size, rent) are processed the same way.

Cloudflare Turnstile token

The listing checker form is protected by Cloudflare Turnstile. When you submit a check, a challenge token is sent alongside your request. This token is verified server-side with Cloudflare and then discarded. Turnstile does not use tracking cookies.

HTTP request metadata

Like every website, our server receives your IP address, User-Agent string, and other standard HTTP headers with each request. This data is processed by Cloudflare (CDN and proxy) and our hosting provider as part of delivering the page. We do not log or store this data beyond what is required for rate limiting during an active session.

Website analytics

We use Umami (self-hosted) for website analytics. This tool is privacy-focused: it does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track you across websites. We see only aggregate page view counts and referrer statistics. No individual visitor profiles are created.

Legal basis (GDPR Art. 6)

We process data under Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest) for the following activities:

  • Listing checks and calculator: our legitimate interest is providing the core service you requested. Processing is limited to the inputs you submit and lasts only for the duration of the request.
  • Website analytics: our legitimate interest is understanding aggregate usage patterns to improve the service. Umami collects no personal data and uses no cookies, so the impact on your privacy is minimal.
  • Bot protection and rate limiting: our legitimate interest is protecting the service from abuse. Cloudflare Turnstile processes a challenge token per submission. Rate limiting uses your IP address in memory only.
  • Infrastructure delivery: our legitimate interest is serving the website reliably. Cloudflare and Hetzner process standard HTTP metadata as part of CDN, proxy, and hosting operations.

Cookies

Rentkompass does not set any tracking, advertising, or authentication cookies. The only cookies that may appear are strictly functional ones set by Cloudflare as part of CDN and bot protection. These are exempt from consent requirements under ePrivacy rules.

Third-party processors

Cloudflare (CDN, proxy, and bot protection)

All traffic to Rentkompass passes through Cloudflare’s network. Cloudflare acts as a CDN and reverse proxy, caching static assets and routing requests to our server. Cloudflare also provides Turnstile bot protection on forms. Cloudflare processes your IP address and request metadata as part of these services. Hosting

This site is hosted by Hetzner Online GmbH (Industriestr. 25, 91710 Gunzenhausen, Germany). The hosting provider processes your IP address and request metadata as part of delivering the website. Data is stored on servers in Germany.

Database (listing analytics)

We use Supabase (hosted in the EU) to store listing analysis results and building reference data. This database contains publicly scraped listing information, not personal user data. No names, email addresses, or account information is stored.

Analytics

We use Umami (self-hosted) for privacy-focused website analytics. Umami does not use cookies, does not collect personal data, and does not track visitors across websites. We see only aggregate page views.

Data retention

Rentkompass does not store personal data. Listing check inputs are processed in memory and discarded after the response is sent. Rate limiting counters are held in memory and reset when the server restarts. Listing analysis results in Supabase contain only public listing data, not personal information.

Your rights

Under the GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, and port your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. Because Rentkompass does not store personal data or maintain user accounts, there is typically no personal data to act on. If you believe we hold data about you, contact us at the address below.

We may update this policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated revision date.
